Muscogee County and surrounding areas report over 6,700 total coronavirus cases Monday
Here are the updated COVID-19 numbers for our area for July 6.
GEORGIA
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 6,747 cases in the 3 p.m. Monday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
225 total deaths were reported in the area.
Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:
- Muscogee: 2166, 52, 251
Troup: 1627, 35, 167
- Sumter: 576, 50, 153
Chattahoochee: 429, 0, 7
Harris: 383, 11, 43
- Crisp: 295, 12, 45
- Dooly: 214, 12, 43
- Randolph: 204, 25, 36
Meriwether: 218, 3, 25
- Macon: 120, 9, 36
Stewart: 184, 3, 32
- Marion: 87, 2, 13
Talbot: 82, 3, 15
- Clay: 56, 2, 5
- Taylor: 38, 2, 11
- Schley: 26, 1, 7
Webster: 24, 2, 7
- Quitman: 18, 1, 5

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
ALABAMA
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 44,375 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 3:15 p.m. EST Monday.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 1,411 while Russell County’s total stands at 565.
There have been 454,592 tests performed statewide. The state reported 984 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Monday.
The state of Alabama reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On July 6 the state reported 22,082 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.
