Muscogee County and surrounding areas report nearly 8,000 total coronavirus cases Monday

Here are the updated COVID-19 numbers for our area for July 13.

GEORGIA

Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 7,913 cases in the 3 p.m. Monday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

239 total deaths were reported in the area.

Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:

  • Muscogee: 2889, 58, 305
  • Troup: 1756, 38, 185

  • Sumter: 620, 51, 155

  • Chattahoochee: 468, 0, 8

  • Harris: 445, 12, 48

  • Crisp: 311, 13, 46
  • Meriwether: 254, 3, 27

  • Dooly: 224, 13, 44

  • Stewart: 219, 3, 46

  • Randolph: 212, 25, 36

  • Macon: 139, 9, 36

  • Marion: 100, 3, 13

  • Talbot: 94, 3, 15

  • Clay: 63, 2, 5

  • Taylor: 36, 2, 11

  • Webster: 32, 2, 7

  • Schley: 29, 1, 9

  • Quitman: 22, 1, 5

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.

Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.

ALABAMA

The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 54,768 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 2:56 p.m. EST Monday.

The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 1,647 while Russell County’s total stands at 713.

There have been 518,827 tests performed statewide. The state reported 1,096 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Monday.

The state of Alabama reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On July 13 the state reported 25,783 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.
