Here are stores, pharmacies in Columbus giving COVID vaccines for kids ages 5-11
Children ages 5-11 are now able to get vaccinated after the Food and Drug Administration authorized emergency use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The vaccine became available for kids in Columbus a little more than a week ago, and the Columbus Health Department vaccinated 120 kids during clinics last week, Pamela Kirkland, spokesperson of the Columbus Health Department, said.
The health department is hosting a clinic on Nov. 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parents also can walk in to get their children vaccinated Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Although children are less likely to suffer from severe illness from COVID-19, public health experts say it’s still important to get them vaccinated to protect the larger community.
“We are not living isolated from our children,” Dr. Asante Hilts, program manager for the West Central Health District, said. “They are part of everything we do.”
Getting kids vaccinated will help to protect other individuals at their school and elsewhere in the community who are immunocompromised, Hilts said, and will also help to prevent kids from bringing home the virus to their families.
The list below contains publicly available locations that are offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11. Healthcare providers may also be able to administer the vaccine to their patients, and residents should talk to their doctors for more information.
