COVID-19 cases in Muscogee County lowest since start of pandemic. Here are the trends

The number of COVID-19 cases in Muscogee County has dropped to lows not seen since the start of the pandemic, according to data from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

After the omicron surge, new coronavirus cases began dropping in February and remained low throughout March and April. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have rated Muscogee County as having a low COVID community level.

Public health experts have told the Ledger-Enquirer that they are optimistic about a low risk for future surges in the region, however there is still a risk because of omicron subvariants and the low vaccination rate.

Here are the latest COVID-19 trends in Muscogee County and Georgia, according to DPH data.

Muscogee County

Muscogee County reported 31 new COVID cases in the last two weeks at a case rate of 16 cases per 100,000 people as of April. 20. This is the lowest the two-week case rate has been since the beginning of the pandemic in March and April of 2020.
