Boy, 5, falls from moving vehicle at school

A 5-year-old boy has serious injuries after falling from a moving vehicle in the West Forest Intermediate School parking lot Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Opelika Police Department.

The victim was transported to Midtown Medical in Columbus and later transferred to the Egleston Hospital in Atlanta. His current condition is unknown, police said Wednesday.

Officials said they were called to the school at 2801 Waverly Parkway around 6:20 p.m. EDT Tuesday to investigate after it was reported that the child fell from the vehicle.

Authorities have released few details about the incident, but they described it as an accident. It’s still under investigation.
