Shaw graduate Talley to be guest conductor at free CSU Wind Ensemble concert Friday

Damon Talley, a Shaw High School graduate who is now the director of bands at Louisiana State University, will serve as a guest conductor at a Columbus State University Wind Ensemble Concert on Friday.

The free concert is at 7 p.m. in Legacy Hall at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway.

The other guest conductor is Mallory Thompson, director of bands at Northwestern University.

The show kicks off the 19th annual conductors workshop at CSU’s Schwob School of Music.

The Donald Sinta Quartet, featuring faculty member Joseph Girard, will perform. It is an award-winning chamber group that performs around the world.

Several pieces of music will be performed, including Symphony No. 4 by U.S. composer David Maslanka.

Jamie L. Nix is conductor of the CSU Wind Ensemble.
