The education website schools.com ranked Columbus State University 9th place in its list of the 10 best 4-year colleges in Georgia.

The site compared data from the Department of Education and the National Center for Education Statistics to rank more than 50 schools based on factors like tuition cost, number of programs offered, number of online degrees offered, retention rates, graduation rates and other factors.

CSU ranked 9th on the list overall. It tied for 8th for number of degree programs and 6th for its relatively low cost.

The school earned special accolades for its many online-degree options, with only four other schools in the state offering more choices in the 2015-2016 school year.

The Georgia Institute of Technology was named the top school, followed by the University of Georgia and Middle Georgia State University.

CSU has grown considerably in the last several years, and is on track for record enrollment in the 2017-2018 academic year.

“Columbus State University is an exciting place to be right now. More and more students are discovering that we are indeed their first choice. I think they are taking notice of the caliber of our faculty and facilities, and of the national recognitions we are receiving for our combination of academic excellence and value,” said CSU president Chris Markwood said in a news release.
