The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that to ease traffic congestion it is suspending interstate highway construction-related lane closures for the Labor Day Holiday.

According to a report on the Georgia DOT website, these closures will be suspended from Friday at noon until Tuesday at 5 a.m.

Lane closures are also limited on major state routes that directly serve key tourist and recreation centers.

Drivers should use caution as crews may still work in proximity to highways and safety concerns may require long-term closures to remain in place.

Also, incident mangement or emergency, maintenance-related lane closures could become necessary at any time on any route.
