Here are the Top 5 best-rated coffee shops in Columbus
For some people, there’s nothing better than the smell of a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning — or anytime, really. Luckily, Columbus is stocked with a collection of great coffee shops to whet any caffeine hound’s appetite. But it’s often not just the pure quality of the coffee that makes or breaks a coffee shop — it’s the atmosphere, vibe and location too.
To compile this list, we combined user reviews from Yelp, TripAdvisor and Google reviews, and we’ve included a few comments from Yelp users so they can tell you exactly what they liked.
That left us with what Columbus folks consider the top 5 coffee shops in town. But don’t let this list confine you — check out all the restaurants, cafes and eateries that the city has to share.
Midtown Coffee House on 13th St. is the go-to place for espresso fans, and its owner even showed us how to make the perfect latte. Reviewers like Midtown for its creative drinks, cozy atmosphere, prime location in Midtown and emphasis on faith and service.
Yola’s is one of the newest players on the block, serving up hot coffee and a big selection of fresh-baked breads and pastries. The shop was created in memorial of Manuel “Will” Cabezas, the owner’s 3-year-old nephew who tragically drowned in 2015. Yola’s got props from reviewers for its atmosphere and its prime location in Lakebottom, as well as its coffee and sweet treats.
Iron Bank Coffee, at the corner of Broadway and 11th St., is located in the old First National Bank of Columbus, and has the heavy vault doors to prove it. Along with its wide selection of coffee creations, the shop also offers a full salad bar, beer and an extensive sandwich menu. Reviewers love the interesting location, charming vibe, lively atmosphere and great lattes.
Fountain City Coffee on Broadway roasts their own beans and is always experimenting with new and interesting flavors. The local art on the walls, constantly rotating selection of beans and publicly available guitars give the shop what some reviewers call a cool “hipster” and bohemian vibe. The friendly staff and early-morning to late-night hours get extra shout-outs from reviewers.
5. My Boulange
My Boulange is a french bakery on 12th St. that takes a cue from traditional French cafes. While My Boulange serves a wide menu of pastries, breads and sandwiches, it also offers fresh coffee and a growing selection of specialty lattes. Reviewers love the unique vibe, excellent drinks and authentic French ingredients and creations.
Plus, just in case you feel like something a little different.
Te Amo Tea is as hole-in-the-wall tea shop on Broadway that serves dozens of varieties of loose-leaf teas. The staff can brew you anything from a straight cup of black tea to a rose-flavored herbal tonic to a sweet pumpkin-spice tea-latte. It’s still a pretty new spot that doesn’t really fit into any other categories, but it deserves a mention.
