Notre Dame legend coming to speak in Columbus

Notre Dame football legend Rudy Ruettiger will speak in Columbus Nov. 7.

Ruettiger will appear at a “Give Childhood a Chance” luncheon in the St. Luke Ministry Center.

Money raised at the noon event will benefit boys and girls at Our House at Carpenter’s Way Ranch in Cataula, Ga.,. and Arabella in Waverly Hall, Ga. Both are a ministry of The Methodist Home.

Bettinger is a motivational speaker whose message is “Yes, I Can.”

A 1993 biographical film was made about his quest to play football at Notre Dame which he eventually did despite many obstacles.

The Methodist Home is a residential care home providing special treatment programs that address the needs of abuse, neglected and abandoned children.

“We restore childhoods,” said Nick Alford, regional director for The Methodist Home.
