Auburn ranked No. 7 among Alabama’s safest cities; Phenix City in top 20
Auburn, Phenix City and Opelika are ranked among 25 safest cities in Alabama.
The list was of cities with at least 22,000 in population.
The list was compiled by Safehome.org, an organization that ranks and reviews home security devices.
The study reviewed a variety of data sources, including the FBI’s latest report of how many and what types of crimes occurred in U.S. cities in a year.
It also considered the number of law enforcement officers compared to the population and crime trends.
According to a report from the city of Auburn, the city was given a safety score of 77.47 and has the highest population of the top seven cities on the list.
The top 10 cities are Vestavia Hills, Daphne, Pelham, Alabaster, Madison, Athens, Auburn, Enterprise, Hoover and Prattville.
