Here's how to help families in Columbus have a happy holiday

The Ledger-Enquirer's annual Holiday Help program is almost over and we still have hundreds of letters left asking for help in making Christmas merry.

Families have asked for help in all kinds of ways. Some need assistance keeping their lights on. One mother asked for two comforter sets and toiletries for her 9-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son.

Others kept it simple: they would like enough food to have a family dinner on Christmas.

If you have an abundance this holiday season, come to our office in the Hardaway Building at 945 Broadway to read the available letters. Or if you work in an office, consider teaming up with your coworkers to help a few families.

Stop by between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 22.

Note: Letters need to be dropped off at the Ledger-Enquirer building. Simple, handwritten letters are welcome and encouraged. We do not accept electronic submissions such as e-email letters or requests for help made in the comment section of this story or on Facebook or other social media sites.

Also, the Ledger-Enquirer does not screen letters, nor can it guarantee their truthfulness.

Happy holidays from the Ledger-Enquirer!
