Families still need your help making spirits bright for the holidays

Christmas is rapidly approaching and there are families in the Chattahoochee Valley that still need your help for the holidays.

We have plenty of Holiday Help letters to choose from, written by mothers, fathers, grandparents and more needing assistance. For those not familiar with Holiday Help, it’s an annual program hosted by the Ledger-Enquirer where those in need write a letter stating their needs and turn it in to our offices. Then those with an abundance visit our office and choose a family to help (some people choose to team up with friends or coworkers to help a few families).

Some families need help with basic needs, like toiletries or keeping their lights on. Others have asked for baby clothes, bed sheets, or a toy to put under the tree.

One letter we received is from a single father. In addition to taking care of his kids, he says he’s also caring for his nephew because his mother is very ill. After paying his monthly bills, he doesn’t have a lot of money left over for gifts.

“I want for all of these 4 children to have a (sic) amazing Christmas,” the man writes. “Please help me do this. I would be most grateful.”

That’s one of many letters we still have left. If you’re interested in helping a family, stop by our office in the Hardaway Building at 945 Broadway between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to read over the letters through Dec. 22.

If you would like to help a family but don’t feel you have time to do the shopping, we can also accept a monetary donation and complete the shopping for you.

Happy holidays from the Ledger-Enquirer!

Note: The Ledger-Enquirer does not screen letters, nor can it guarantee their truthfulness.
