Woman killed in Phenix City crash identified
The woman who was killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Monday on Whiterock Road in Phenix City has been identified, Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. said.
Jammie Lea Acosta, 42 of Oklahoma, was pronounced dead of apparent blunt-force trauma around 4 a.m. Monday, Sumbry said. Her body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.
Sumbry said he was called to the scene on Whiterock Road around 3 a.m. Acosta was pronounced dead on the scene.
Timothy Jerome Marlow, 37 of Phenix City, has been charged with vehicular homicide in the case. He is currently in the Muscogee County Jail.
According to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, which handled the investigation, Acosta was a passenger in the vehicle that was being driven by Marlow.
The ALEA did not release any more information.
