Columbus delays opening until 10 a.m. Wednesday;Phenix City Council meeting cancelled
With wintry weather moving into the area Tuesday night, the Columbus Consolidated Government has made the decision to delay opening of offices on Wednesday until 10 a.m.
City Manager Isaiah Hugley is authorizing department heads to allow employees — except emergency and other essential personnel — to report to work at 10 a.m. Wednesday, a release from Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson’s office said.
It also said that Recorder’s Court sessions at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday have been cancelled and will be rescheduled later, while court sessions at 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. will take place as scheduled.
Meanwhile, METRA bus service is scheduled to run normal routes Wednesday, depending upon road and weather conditions, the release said. Customers needing more information or updates on schedules should call 706-225-4673.
In Phenix City, the council meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday has been cancelled due to hazardous weather. The next council meeting is 9 a.m. Feb. 6.
All administrative offices in Phenix City will be closed, City Clerk Melony Lee said in a release.
