A Muscogee County School District bus was involved in an accident Monday morning.
No injuries were reported.
The bus was shuttling students to several high schools when a taxi rear-ended it at the intersection of Steam Mill Road and Steam Mill Place at 6:44 a.m., according to MCSD’s news release.
“Upon notification of the accident, transportation supervisors notified local law enforcement,” MCSD communications director Mercedes Parham wrote in the news release. “Officers cited the taxi cab driver, for driving while under the influence of narcotics, at the scene of the accident. Supervisors then dispatched another bus to transport students to their respective school locations. School administrators have notified all parents regarding the incident.”
The Columbus Police Department is investigating the accident, the news release says.
Parham told the Ledger-Enquirer that 20 high school students were on the bus, on their way to Carver, Columbus, Early College, Hardaway, Rainey-McCullers or Shaw.
