Study ranked Macon in the top 50 for this food. What do you think it is?

One of the top 50 cities for barbecue is right here in middle Georgia, according to Apartment Guide.

Macon comes in at number 42 on the apartment website’s list, with 6.47% of barbecue restaurants in the area and 15.68 restaurants per 100,000 people. To determine the rankings, they looked at the percentage of barbecue restaurants to all restaurants in a city’s area.

According to the website, they looked at about 6,300 cities with at least one barbecue restaurant in the city. Then, after filtering out cities with less than 50,000 people and dividing the number of barbecue restaurants compared to total restaurants, they got their ranking.

Other Georgia cities that made the list include Smyrna, Albany, Marietta and Columbus. The best place in the country for barbecue is Memphis, TN.
