Two shootings in Phenix City leave one dead, another in stable condition

Two Phenix City shootings early Saturday, one of them at a party, left one man dead and another in stable condition.

The first shooting occurred at about 4:15 a.m. in the Fourth Street South area, according to a police press release.

Responding police officers found a male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, who police haven’t yet publicly identified, was transported to the Piedmont Columbus Regional medical center where he is in stable condition.

Nearly 20 minutes later, Phenix City police received a 911 call about another person shot, on Abercrombie Road.

When officers arrived, police said, they found 27-year-old Keon Simmons dead. Multiple people were at the scene when police arrived because a party was being thrown there that night.

Police say they aren’t yet sure whether the two shootings are related. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Phenix City Police Department at 334-448-2822.
