Authorities respond to sinkhole on 10th Avenue near Cusseta Road

A sinkhole formed on 10th Avenue near Cusseta Road Tuesday afternoon, a Columbus Police Department spokesman confirmed.

Multiple squad cars responded to the area around 2:30 p.m. and workers from the Columbus Consolidated Government were also on the scene.

Columbus Water Works senior vice president Vic Burchfield said the problem was related to the city stormwater.

The Ledger-Enquirer was unable to reach a CCG official for comment.

The road was blocked off as workers assessed and repaired the damage. Workers were seen filling the 5-foot hole with asphalt around 3:15 p.m.
