Data provided by the CDC and the Georgia Department of Public Health shows that Georgia is currently experiencing high cases of influenza-like-illnesses (ILI).

In week 39 of 2022, the GDPH reported 314 positive cases of Influenza in the state with 295 positive cases of Influenza A and 19 positive cases of Influenza B.

The CDC has categorized Georgia as having high activity levels of ILI for week 39 which ended on Oct. 1.

Pamela Kirkland, public information coordinator for GDPH’s West Central Health District, said the flu vaccine is available at all health departments.

She said that while it is still possible to catch the flu after getting the vaccine, the vaccine helps shorten the length and severity of the illness.

Flu vaccines are also available for free at Walgreens and CVS pharmacies and you can set up an appointment on their websites. Flu vaccines are typically available at some supermarkets. Check with your local supermarkets to see availability.
