Threatening phone call prompts lockdown at Eddy Middle School

According to a press release from the Muscogee County School District(MCSD), Eddy Middle School received a threatening phone call on Thursday approximately 3:30 p.m. The school was placed on lockdown, and MCSD police, Columbus Police Department and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office responded and investigated. Eddy Middle School was locked down for about an hour on Thursday after receiving a threatening phone call, the Muscogee County School District said.

After the phone call at 3:30 p.m., the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department along with the Columbus Police Department responded to the school on South Lumpkin Road and began an investigation.

Police did not describe the nature of the call or whether they discovered a threat.

But in a news release, the district said the lockdown was lifted at approximately 4:20 p.m. and students were dismissed. All students and staff members are safe.
