2 women dead after separate homicides in Columbus in past 24 hours
Two women are dead following separate shootings in Columbus late Friday night and early Saturday morning, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Bryan said 39-year-old Natalie Bel, was pronounced dead at 11:49 p.m. Friday after suffering a gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Brown Avenue in Columbus.
Sharon Johnson, 63, was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Saturday after suffering a gunshot wound in the 900 block of Joy Road, according to Bryan.
This makes 17 homicides that have occurred in the area since the beginning of 2023, according to a list compiled by the Ledger-Enquirer. They are the first pair of fatal shootings since a double-homicide that occurred on Clay Street earlier this month.
