Two Columbus residents are dead after a single-vehicle crash that occurred around Hancock Road late Sunday night, according to police and the county coroner.

Columbus police were called to the scene of a Telsa electric vehicle crash around 11:22 p.m. Sunday.

The victims Phong Do, 54, and Toan Neugen, 48, were pronounced dead at the scene after midnight Monday morning, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Police say the Tesla caught fire at some point. Division Chief John Shull with Columbus Fire & EMS said the fire apparently was the result of the collision.

An autopsy will be performed on the victims to establish a cause of death, according to Bryan.

The Columbus Fire Department was on site to put out the fire, according to Shull.
