A Salem woman is dead following a crash in Russell County on Thursday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The two-vehicle crash happened around 10:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 80 about two miles west of Phenix City, according to ALEA.

Authorities say the victim, 58-year-old Barbara E. McElwain, wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She was taken to Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus where she later died from her injuries, according to the release.
