Columbus RiverCenter to host Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse live concert national tour
The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus will be showing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse accompanied by a live concert that will play music from the box office hit.
The concert is part of a newly announced national tour that will include a live orchestra, band and turntables with a scratch DJ who will play music from the film. The tour will include The Broadway Sinfonietta, an all-woman orchestra with a majority being women-of-color.
The film’s musical score composer, Daniel Pemberton, said in a release, “Utilizing a full orchestra, crazy electronics, and unbelievable turntable scratching techniques amongst a million other things is so technically complex, I never thought we’d ever be able to actually reproduce it in a live setting; but somehow, we have.”
The film’s score includes music from artists such as Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Jaden Smith and Nicki Minaj.
“I am ridiculously excited for fans around the country to see their very first Spider-Verse concert later this year,” Pemberton went on to say.
“This production is a first for RiverCenter and the Columbus region, appealing to both continuing and new audiences,” said RiverCenter’s Executive Director, Norm Easterbrook in a release.
“The Spider-Man stories have just been fun for entire generations in print and on film. Adding the live musicians is a human element that will more closely connect the audience to the work of the graphic and film artists and creators,” Easterbrook said.
The film received a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes with a 94% audience score.
Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28.
