Worker dies in accident at Alabama lumber company. It’s the second death in 3 years

One man is dead following an incident Wednesday at Phenix Lumber Company in Phenix City, according to Phenix City police.

This is the second incident of an individual dying at Phenix Lumber Company, according to police. In May 2020 Brandon Lee Vandyke was found dead inside a piece of equipment, police say.

In the latest case, police say upon arrival they were directed to the sawmill area of the plant where they were advised that an employee was stuck inside a piece of equipment.

Police say the 67-year-old James Streetman, a maintenance employee, was killed in the accident.

Phenix City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division along with the Phenix City Fire Department are investigating the incident.

OSHA has been notified and is conducting an investigation as well, according to police.

No further information was given at this time.
