Correction: City sends wrong news release. Columbus street closure will be much shorter

About an hour after announcing Friday that part of a major downtown street temporarily will close for an estimated two months, the Columbus Consolidated Government issued a correction.

The section of 11th Street between Seventh Avenue and 10th Avenue will be closed to westbound traffic for five hours Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for maintenance of the Dragonfly Trail, a multipurpose alternative transportation path for biking, running and walking.

Drivers are encouraged to use 13th Street or 10th Street during the closure.

Earlier on Friday, CCG mistakenly emailed to media outlets last year’s news release announcing that part of 11th Street was closing for approximately two months to improve the lighting.
