Fundraisers in Columbus area helping Napier family after 3 members died in car crash
Several fundraisers have been established to help the Napier family of Smiths Station, which lost three members in a car crash Aug. 26 in Phenix City.
Jordan Vocational High School construction teacher Jimmy Napier Jr., 33, his wife, Ami, 32, and their 8-year-old son, Hudson, died from injuries suffered in the collision with a semi-truck on Highway 80 East, near Garrett-Harrison Stadium. Their 4-year-old son, Grayson, was hospitalized but released Sunday from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to finish recovering at home with relatives.
Napier was planning to help make the home of a 4-year-old girl injured in a May car accident wheelchair accessible. Grayson received care at the same hospital where the girls has been treated.
According to the obituary on McMullen Funeral Home’s website, funeral arrangements are pending.
NapierStrong merchandise
A&J Screenprinters of Columbus is selling Napier Strong merchandise. The proceeds will be given to Grayson’s caregivers and guardians.

Crystal Morrell on Facebook produced fundraiser by selling #NapierStrong shirts at a reduced price of $12 each with all proceeds going to the Napier family.
Home Runs for Hudson
The Chatt-a-Hoots baseball team will host a home run derby Sept. 24, from 5-7:30 p.m., at Golden Park for kids ages 9-12 to raise money for the Napier family.
Participants should bring their own bat and glove.
Jordan Vocational High School
The Jordan softball team wants fans to donate $1, $5 or $10 for every base a Red Jacket reaches safely during the Sept. 6 game against Central Macon. Register at the concession stand to participate. Tickets to attend the game must be purchased via gofan.co.
GoFundMe for the Napier family
Through an account at GoFundMe.com, Napier cousin Tuesday Saeli tried to raise $700 to fund travel expenses for her and another cousin, Alicia Saeli, as they try to join the family before the yet-to-be-scheduled funeral.
As of Sept. 6, contributions from 15 donors totaled $750, and the goal was increased to $900.
Restaurant fundraisers for the Napier family
Several local restaurants have hosted fundraisers for the Napier family.
Sports bar Eighty Five in Harris County donated a portion of its Aug. 29-31 revenue and conducted a raffle.
Fortson restaurant 219 Food and Spirits used its Aug. 31 revenue also to help.
Culver’s in Phenix City donated 10% of its Sept. 5 sales from 5-9 p.m.
Belle’s BBQ & Bliss in Fort Mitchell conducted a raffle.
Other fundraisers for the Napier family
Napier’s Produce, the Columbus farm-fresh company related to the Napier family, has a box for cash contributions at its Double Churches location and posted on its Facebook page a link to the cash app where folks can make electronic donations.
Designs by Amanda raised $3,144.71 for Grayson’s caretakers.
A bank account called “In Memory of the Napier Family” has been set up at Synovus. Donations can be made at any Synovus branch.
