Inmate dies in Troup County Jail after being found unresponsive in cell, authorities say
An inmate found unresponsive in the Troup County Jail has died, according to a statement from the Troup County Sheriff’s office.
The inmate has been identified Aaron M. Martinette, 33, of Fayetteville. The sheriff’s office says Martinette was being held on DIsorderly Conduct charges.
The sheriff’s office says that Martinette was found unresponsive by a detention officer around 9:17 p.m. Thursday. Jail medical staff, Troup County Fire Department and AMR were notified and life-saving measures begun. The lifesaving measures were continued as Martinette was taken to Well Star West Georgia’s Emergency room, the sheriff’s office says.
Martinette was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m., Friday, according to the release. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is on the scene and will conduct an independent investigation, according to the release.
