Pedestrian, 66, killed in car crash on Columbus’ Buena Vista Road, coroner says

A pedestrian died after a car hit him Wednesday night on Buena Vista Road, Columbus authorities said.

The 66-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:42 p.m., said Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

He said Deputy Coroner Dustin Harrelson still was trying Thursday to find the victim’s family to notify them of the death, so the man’s name could not immediately be disclosed to the public.

The crash happened near Greenbriar Drive, Bryan said.

Columbus police were investigating, but had not released any additional details Thursday.
