Homicide investigation underway after body of a teen was found in Columbus wooded area
Police have identified the victim in a homicide investigation as a 14-year-old boy whose body was found in a wooded area on Magnolia Avenue in Columbus, according to the county coroner.
Casadarius McGhee, 14, was pronounced dead at the scene Monday morning. He was shot multiple times, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
McGhee was a student at Hardaway High School, said Kimberly Wright, communications director for the Muscogee County School District. He previously attended Rothschild Leadership Academy, according to a Facebook post.
Investigators were on the scene Monday at a cut-through behind 1050 Adair Ave. that lead to a dead end at Magnolia Ave.
The area investigators seemed to be focused on was an area at the end of the street that a nearby resident said acts as a thoroughfare.
Some nearby houses seemed to be abandoned with boarded up windows and doorways.
No further information has been released as to the identity of the victim at this time.
