Cold temperatures will chill Columbus through weekend. When will the forecast warm up?

The cold weather that has gripped the Columbus area and much of the South this week will continue to do so throughout this weekend. However, it looks like it may loosen its choke hold on the area next week.

The high Friday in the Columbus area will be near 51 degrees but drop to a low of around 21 degrees Friday night, according to a National Weather Service Forecast. The forecast also states that there will be a 10% chance of rain before 7 a.m. on Friday.

Saturday will be a day for puffy jackets as the high is expected to top out at 40 degrees with a low Saturday night reaching around 19 degrees, according to the NWS forecast.

The NWS forecast shows the high Sunday will be near 45 degrees with temperatures dipping back down below freezing around 26 degrees Sunday night.

Early next week Columbus residents may get a break from heavy jackets and winter pants and finally be able to sit outside to drink their coffee.

The high Monday will be near 56 degrees with a low around 41 degrees Monday night, according to the NWS forecast.

The forecast shows warmer weather and a chance for rain on Tuesday with a 20% chance of showers with a high near 63 degrees. There will be a 40% chance of showers Tuesday night with a low around 53, according to the NWS forecast.

The NWS forecast shows a 50% chance of showers on Wednesday with a high near 69 degrees.
