Registration deadline for ACT Friday

Students who plan to take the next ACT college admission and placement exam must register by Friday's deadline to have the registration postmarked.

An extra fee is charged for the late registration postmark deadline of Aug. 24.

The test is administered in only 19 states, which include Georgia. The next national test date is Oct. 27. The test also is offered in December, February, April and June.

The cost is $30 for the traditional ACT and $44.50 for the ACT Plus Writing. Some colleges require the optional writing test score. Students should check with their prospective colleges before registering. ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities in the United States.

ACT's Web site, www.actstudent.org, has helpful information, sample tests and the opportunity to order inexpensive test prep materials.
