Shooting gallery competition at Ranger Joe's Friday

Don't tell a group of World War II Rangers that the Ranger Rendezvous ends Thursday with the 75th Ranger Regiment's change of command.

While it may not be on the official agenda, Friday's shooting gallery competition at Ranger Joe's on Victory Drive will team up 22 of the vintage shooters from six decades ago with a like number of modern day marksmen from the regiment and the Ranger Training Brigade. Teams will be formed by a random drawing.

The competition, which begins at 11 a.m., will be followed by lunch at Cup o' Joe's Coffee Shop inside Ranger Joe's.

The public is invited to stop by the store, watch the competition and to meet the veteran soldiers.

The event is sponsored by the Shooting Gallery, the Worldwide Army Rangers, Inc., AA Victory Auto and Ranger Joe's.

As to the official Ranger Rendezvous, Col. Richard D. Clarke, a former 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment commander, assumes command of the regiment from Col. Paul J. LaCamera Thursday evening at 6 at York Field.

Today's events include the annual Ranger Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Infantry Hall at 1:30 p.m. Earlier in the day at Infantry Hall, the regiment's distinguished and honorary members will be saluted in a 10:30 ceremony.
