The Phenix City Council will have a public hearing on its fiscal 2008 budget at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building at 1111 Broad St.
The council has been working on its $26.3 million spending plan for the last two months. The new budget will include a 2.5 percent cost-of-living increase for city employees, with merit step increases based on employee evaluations.
It will also include a 7 percent increase in pay for city government employees.
