Benning troops in Iraq capture suspected leader of rocket attacks

Soldiers from the 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment of the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team have bagged the No. 1 man on their Most Wanted list of insurgents.

The brigade's Time Sensitive Target team, working with Troop B of the 3-1, captured the suspect, who is considered to be the mastermind of the deadly July 11 rocket attacks on Forward Operating Base Hammer, during a raid Monday in northeast Nahrawan.

The insurgent, whose name was not released for security reasons, was found hiding under a bed in a house adjacent to his own by Pfc. Doug Jones.

In addition to capturing their target, and nine other insurgents, the soldiers uncovered video showing insurgents preparing rockets and later firing them onto the FOB several miles away. One Fort benning soldier was killed in that attack and 15 others were wounded.
