Columbus woman's screams deters robbers

Screaming saved a Columbus woman.

Kyung Matthews, 63, was getting out of her car at Oakland Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Saturday when two men, one with a handgun, approached her and demanded money.

"She just began screaming '9-1-1, 9-1-1,'" loudly," said Columbus Police Lt. Mark D. Starling. She continued to scream this while the men were tugging at her purse.

Her screams were heard by someone in the area and the men took off running.
