Chambers police crack down on seat belt violations

Chambers County law enforcement isn't waiting for Labor Day to get people to use their seat belts.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Department is joining other law enforcement agencies in the county in a crackdown against seat belt violators.

The Labor Day "Click It or Ticket" will begin Aug. 17 and run through Sept. 3.

During this period, said Maj. George Melton, "deputies will be out in force and there will be numerous checkpoints, saturation patrols throughout the county."

Sheriff Sid Lockhart said, "the Chambers County Sheriff's Department will have a zero tolerance when it comes to wearing seat belts. If you get caught by a deputy, you will get ticketed."
