We suspect a lot of folks missed seeing "Fracture" when it was in theaters. While it was a moderate hit, it was bullied at the box office by "Disturbia." And then along came a "Spider-Man 3," and the story was all over for this legal thriller.
The shame is, this movie is far more of a potboiler than its courtroom-drama drapery would lead you to believe. Ryan Gosling stars as a hotshot young attorney sleepwalking through his last case as a public defender before starting a job as with a private practice. It appears to be an open-and-shut attempted murder case — complete with confession — until the accused, played by Anthony Hopkins, turns the tables on the lawyer. The movie is out on DVD today and deserves a larger audience in the home video market.
Also out today: "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters," "Wild Hogs" and "The Lookout."
