A Columbus man was arrested hours after he allegedly broke into a 53-year-old woman's Mays Avenue home about 4:30 this morning and tried to rape her, said Police Sgt. Frank Massa.
Columbus police have linked Tony Hicks, 39, of 3637 Surrey Lane, to a similar home invasion and attempted rape that occurred August 11.
Investigators are working to determine whether Hicks can be tied to other such crimes, Massa said.
A Columbus Police patrolman was injured while trying to apprehend Hicks about an hour after he fled from the Mays Avenue home. The officer was not taken to the hospital, but he did sustain injuries to his back, knee and foot during the approximately 5 a.m. confrontation.
