Troy University hires new dean of student services

Troy University has hired Mary A. Ragland as dean of student services on its Phenix City Campus.

Ragland, previously a coordinator of admissions and marketing at the University of Florida, holds a master of business administration degree from Northcentral University and her bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts.

"Our efforts to find an outstanding new dean of student affairs have been successful and already I am hearing great reports about how she came prepared to fully engage on the first day," said Curtis Pitts, the campus vice chancellor. "We welcome her as she joins the rest of our outstanding staff and faculty. I believe we will see amazing progress as she settles into her duties."

Ragland previously held registrar positions at Palm Beach Community College, Angelo State University, Lake City Community College and the University of Massachusetts. Prior to her entry into higher education in 1993, she was a senior analyst and training coordinator for CIGNA Employee Benefit Services, Inc. in Hartford, Conn.

"I am excited to be a part of Troy University and have been impressed by the wonderful welcome I’ve received by everyone," she said. "I look forward to working with our faculty, staff and students."

Ragland assumed her duties Aug. 1.
