Fort Benning soldier killed in Baghdad

A Fort Benning soldier has been killed in Baghdad, Iraq.

The Department of Defense says that 1st Lt. Jonathan W. Edds assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division died Aug. 17 when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

Edds, 24, is from White Pigeon, Mich. He is the 22nd soldier from the 3rd Brigade killed since its arrival in Iraq in April.
