Columbus police have arrested a man they believe to be the culprit in several violent crimes this summer.
Arrested Tuesday was Marcus Lorenzo Lewis, 23, of Columbus.
He is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal damage in the second degree, one count of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police believe Lewis was involved in the aggravated assault of John Parten on July 9 that also involved criminal damage in the second degree, the aggravated assault of Lucky Henderson on Aug. 12, the armed robbery of Juan Cano on Aug. 5 and the attempted armed robbery of Cano again on August 20.

Police Lt. Mark D. Starling said that Lewis was arrested by police without incident and credited Police Chief Ricky Boren's Safe Streets Task Force for catching Lewis.
