Area law enforcement authorities will be out in force this week for the 16th annual "Hands Across the Border" operation.
The operation, which has teamed together Sheriff's, police, state trooper and Marshal's agencies, will have checkpoints across Muscogee County through next weekend, said Muscogee County Marshal's Lt. Curtis Lockette.
"We're targeting DUIs," he said.
The statewide annual operation has both Georgia and Alabama authorities working together to get drunken drivers off the streets, Lockette said. Officers from 15 nearby counties will be assisting in the area program.

While all the checkpoints haven't been finalized, Lockette said one definite spot will be the 13th Street Bridge.
The operation began 8 p.m. Sunday.
