National Public Lands Day will be observed at Horseshoe Bend Military Park north of Dadeville, Ala., from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
Focus of this year's event is the rising tide of invasive species.
A two-hour hike led by park rangers will help visitors learn how to identify specific trees and invasive plant species in the park and hopefully see some of the local resident animals. Meet at the visitor's center and wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water and a snack.
The 2,040-acre park is 12 miles north of Dadeville off Alabama Highway 49.
