Russell County school board approves construction projects

The Russell County school board approved an updated five-year capital plan at their monthly board meeting Tuesday night.

The top five construction projects, ranked in order of importance to the system, include:--A sewer line for Ladonia Elementary, with an estimated budget of $200,000--Bricking up the exterior of the new cafeteria, moving the electrical service and upgrading the front of the school at Mt. Funding for the sewer line and the cafeteria construction at Ladonia, Dixie and Oliver comes from warrants in 2005 and 2007, money that is already in the bank gaining interest, Chief Financial Officer Lloyd Frey said.

The system will use money from a 2007 bond issue that they will receive from the state in November to fund the construction at Mt. Olive and some of the construction at Dixie.
