Columbus Council this morning confirmed Gary Stickles as the city's director of public services.
Stickles, a 16-year employee with the city, is moving to the department's top spot from the deputy director position. He took that job in July.
As director, Stickles assumes the job left vacant this spring with the retirement of Rufus Riggs.
Before being named deputy director, Stickles was chief of the department's streets division, which is responsible for maintaining sidewalks, curbs, gutters and streets. He also led the landfill division.
