A Columbus man is in stable condition this afternoon after being shot at least twice during an altercation Monday night on Baker Drive.
Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Derek Jones, 21, in connection with the shooting which occurred at 3811 Baker Drive, near building 101, said Columbus Police Lt. Vince Pasko. Terrence Shaw, 21, and Jones apparently got into an argument at the Baker Drive address between 11:45 p.m. Monday and midnight Tuesday. Pasko said Jones left Shaw standing in the parking at one point, but soon returned — this time with a gun.
Jones allegedly shot Shaw at least two times. Shaw ran away and sought refuge from his attacker in a housing authority vehicle parked at 1121 Fort Benning Road, Pasko said.
Police were called to the Housing Authority office at 1121 Fort Benning Road about 7 a.m. after employees discovered the injured Shaw in one of their vehicles.
