Two people are dead after an accident involving two motorcycles and a car on Lee Road 390 late Sunday evening.
Dead are Stephen Kent Hamby of Opelika, Ala., and Kerri Ray of Lanett, Ala. The accident, which happened around 11 p.m. is still being investigated by the Alabama State Patrol. This morning, Lee County coroner Bill Harris was also trying to make sense of what happened. Harris said it appears that three motorcycles were traveling along Lee Road and had just passed a car driven by Ronald Earl Hammock of Valley, Ala.
The motorcycle driven by Stephen Kent Hamby of Opelika hit a deer which sent his motorcycle into one being ridden by William Owen Ray Jr. of Lanett, Ala. and his wife Kerri Ray.
Hamby was killed in the collision and Kerri Ray was tossed from the motorcycle. Kerry Ray was then struck by Hammock's car and killed.
