Sonny says change a light bulb

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has proclaimed Oct. 4 as Change a Light Bulb Day.

The campaign asks people in Georgia to pledge to change a light in their home to an energy efficient one during October.

Energy Star qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and last 6-10 times longer.

The campaign is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and locally by the Columbus office of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.
